Poison of racism
Friday, 23rd July 2021
• THANK you CNJ for your Comment (July 15) on the need to oppose “the poison of racism” in our society.
We, as members of the Camden Town and Primrose Hill’s branch of the Labour Party, have responded to this urgent task by calling on the constituency party to ensure demographically appropriate representation of black and minority ethnic (BAME) communities.
In particular we are proposing that all branches should have a BAME officer who is also an automatic voting member of the general committee.
At least 30 per cent of citizens in Holborn and St Pancras are from BAME backgrounds, a fact that needs to be reflected at all levels in the party.
Our overall aim is to ensure the party leads the way in providing a warm and secure political home to all those from BAME backgrounds.
