SPURS boss Mauricio Pochettino called for fans to trust him after his side further cemented their top-four credentials on Tuesday with their comprehensive 3-0 victory away at Norwich.
Pochettino’s charges move into February with FA Cup and Europa League ties to negotiate, as well as a tough league game against title rivals Manchester City. With big games coming thick and fast there are rumblings among fans bemoaning Spurs’ failure to land a back-up striker for Harry Kane in the January transfer window.
But Pochettino insisted after the Norwich victory that he had all the tools he needs.
“I am very happy with the squad that we have,” he said. “We certainly have enough quality to fight for different competitions.
“We are in the process where it is difficult to add the right player. You can see every week it is difficult to find the right player to improve our squad.”
Pochettino said that the likes of Nacer Chadli and Heung-Min Son can put on their shooting boots should Kane, who has hit 15 Premier League goals so far this term, needs a rest.
Pochettino’s belief that his squad has strength-in-depth was reinforced by Kevin Wimmer’s assured performance away at Norwich. The Austrian defender now looks odds-on for a spell in the first team as cover for Jan Vertonghen, who sustained medial knee-ligament damage against Crystal Palace.
