Please reinstate gritting on our hills

Thursday, 22nd February 2018

• WHY does Camden Council no longer provide yellow gritting bins at the top of both Tanza and Nassington roads, Hampstead?

During December’s heavy snow, the junction of Tanza Road and Parliament Hill was blocked by cars slipping back on the hill. The ice was so bad that the corner was impossible to navigate and there were collisions when cars went out of control.

These were very busy roads on a Sunday when cars bring families to enjoy the snow on the Heath. No gritting lorries ever make an appearance on these steep hills where they are desperately needed in these conditions, therefore the provision of gritting bins is vital.

Snow is forecast for next week. Please reinstate our gritting bins and ensure the roads in this hilly area are gritted.
