NORTH Middlesex and Hampstead will both be looking to end their season on a high on Saturday when they take to the field for their final outings in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County Cricket League.
Depending on results elsewhere, both could claim the runners-up spot behind champions Teddington – a far cry from the relegation fears that plagued the start of their seasons.
On Saturday a commanding knock of 70 from 111 balls from Michael Clements and 47 runs from Adam Holmes helped North Midd secure a 77-run victory in their home match against Hornsey. The hosts didn’t set Hornsey the most testing of targets as they were bowled out for 181 within 56 overs. But Nick Brand and Ethan Bamber turned it into a winning score as they quickly claimed nine wickets between them. Brand took five for 50, while Bamber claimed four for just nine runs as Hornsey were bowled out for 104.
Meanwhile, Mubasher Hassan starred with both the bat and ball as Hampstead beat Finchley by just 15 runs on Saturday.
Coming in at No. 4, Hassan top-scored with 64 off 61 balls, hitting nine fours and a six along the way, as Hampstead were bowled out for 197 off 53.2 overs. He then went on to claim four wickets, a feat matched by team-mate Chris Beaumont-Dark, as Finchley were bowled out for 182.
