PHOENIX are preparing for a titanic title decider against Black Meteors this Sunday as they attempt to win the Premier Division of the Hackney and Leyton League at the first time of asking.

Striker Valen McKay scored a brilliant individual goal on Sunday to earn the league leaders a 1-1 draw against Lapton at Hackney Marshes.
The result leaves Phoenix knowing that if they can beat defending champions Black Meteors this weekend they’ve won the title.

But manager Anthony Clark isn’t counting his chickens just yet.

“The last time we played them they absolutely hammered and humiliated us, so we’re definitely the underdogs going into the game,” he said.
“We’ll have a strong side available and we’re confident that we can get a result.

“But it won’t be easy.”
