Phil Cowan would make a good councillor

• THE new lines drawn up for Primrose Hill mean that we will be voting in three new councillors. I’ve lived in Primrose Hill since 1984. It’s a real village with a unique identity.

Of all the people I’ve met in nearly 40 years here nobody has done as much to sustain the community, in every way possible, as Phil Cowan.

I first got to know him when we were fighting HS2’s proposal to tunnel underneath us. I then discovered how many people he knew, how many he supported, how many ideas he had for Primrose Hill, and how much he put his money where his mouth is. I learnt to turn to him for information and help of every kind.

He serves us all – and has always served – in terms of protecting the environment, helping individual shops survive, raising funds for the village magazine, taking care of the homeless outside his door, canvassing on behalf of everyone less fortunate than himself, serving on the conservation committee, solving other people’s problems, working tirelessly as a volunteer and pushing for what’s needed with Camden Council, the parks, the police and anywhere else he can speak up on our behalf. And he’s independent so is free of party constraints.

If anyone was born to be a councillor it’s Phil Cowan.
