Perhaps councillors will stop playing politics and join us on the march for a people’s vote
Thursday, 18th October 2018
• WE were disappointed to read your report, (Brexit debate bid beaten by clock, October 11).
It’s clear some councillors used a filibuster to stop a motion being debated for Camden to support a people’s vote on the Brexit proposed by the government.
There is a long history of filibustering being used to block progressive policies and it would be a pity if some Camden councillors continue with their Brexit filibuster.
As we are sure the citizens of Camden realise, this is a political procedure to delay or entirely prevent a decision being made.
Remember, the politicians are not able to prevent ordinary people having their say. The people’s vote march for a vote on any Brexit deal is on Saturday.
At noon we, the people, will assemble at Park Lane for our march on parliament.
Perhaps Camden’s councillors can stop playing party politics and stop putting party first and join us on the march!
