People want Labour in Camden to take the Brexit issue seriously

• UNDERSTANDABLY Brexit issue is at the very top of the political agenda going into the May elections, especially in wards such as Hampstead Town where 80 per cent of those who voted did to Remain, and which has a considerable population of EU citizens.

I turned 18 in July 2016 and couldn’t vote. Like thousands of EU citizens I wasn’t given a choice on a decision that will reverberate across my lifetime. I had absolutely no say.

That is why I am incredibly proud to stand as a Camden Labour candidate at a time when the leadership on the council has tabled a motion in support of Britain’s continued membership of the single market and customs union.

Not only does this send out a robust message that Labour is strong on Brexit, but also that we are listening to the large majority of Camden residents who want the council to take this matter seriously.

The vast majority of Labour members, and voters, are in support of retaining our membership of the single market, and this is sometimes lost in the course of debate.

Camden’s Labour council is giving me the voice I was denied, and that is why I stand in solidarity with them.

A vote for Camden Labour in May is a vote to stand up for what is right and defend the thousands of hard-working citizens that chose our neck of the woods to be their home.
