People want action to green the area
Thursday, 28th April 2022
• I HAVE spoken to thousands of residents in Fortune Green, alongside my fellow candidates Lorna Greenwood and Marcus Storm.
In these conversations, residents have told us how important it is for them that we take action to make our area greener, cleaner and more sustainable.
I was proud to introduce Camden’s first Camden Climate Investment (“green bond”) in March. This will enable individual residents in our communities to invest directly into local action to take on the climate crisis such as new cycle hangars and solar panels on public buildings.
More than £350,000 of our £1million target has already been funded showing that, together, we can make a huge change. People can invest from as little as £5 by going to www.abundanceinvestment.com/camden.
We have been delivering new cycle hangars and pressed Network Rail to plant trees and wild flowers after they mass-culled them on the embankment behind Westbere Road.
We are supporting recycling and taking on fly-tippers and, together with West Hampstead Labour councillors, we have secured a new enforcement team and collection truck for West Hampstead and Fortune Green. But there is so much more we want to achieve.
I am proud to be standing on a manifesto that pledges 500 new cycle hangars, 400 new electric vehicle charge points, 2,500 new trees and Camden’s biggest ever home insulation programme. We are starting with replacing all single-glazed windows on the Templar House estate.
Together Lorna, Marcus, and I will be pushing for real action to make every street cleaner and greener. We will ensure that Camden does its bit to tackle the climate crisis.
