AN 87-year-old woman is fighting for her life after being the victim of a “nasty robbery” in Camden Town.

Stella Magarshick collapsed after having her bag snatched in the communal lobby of her flat in Albert Street at around 8pm on Tuesday, police said.

Detectives are now hunting for a suspect and appealed for the public’s help.

Detective Inspector Adam Ghaboos, from Camden CID, said: “This was a nasty robbery on a lifelong resident of Camden. Following falling victim to this crime Ms Magarshick is now fighting for her life. Our thoughts are with her, and her family and friends, during this difficult time.”

 

Scotland Yard said it is believed the Ms Magarshick was returning home from the shops when an unknown man followed her into her block of flats. When she asked who he was, the man snatched her handbag and fled the scene, police said.

She went up stairs to her flat and collapsed a short time later. She was rushed to hospital by paramedics, where she remains in a “critical” condition.

DI Ghaboos said:””We are determined to find the person responsible for the robbery and we would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
