ANYONE who was silly enough to write Sir Robert Peel off in the race for the Division One title in the Chalk Farm Pool League may well be made to eat their words.
On Monday night the defending champions continued to hunt down current league leaders Boston Arms.
Peel have been playing catch-up almost all season, having unusually lost three of their opening 12 games.
But now John Brown’s side are very much back on track having lost just four of their last 27 frames – a run that has catapulted them back into contention. The latest win at their home table in Queen’s Crescent saw Peel smash King’s Cross Hawks 8-1 to move within four points of Boston Arms and revive their hopes of winning a fifth successive title.
Boston are not about to give up top spot easily, however, as they mirrored Sir Robert Peel’s performance by pocketing their own 8-1 victory over Peckwater Playboys.
The King’s Cross Hurricanes remain third after recording a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Holloway-based opponents Cousins Elite.
