CHAMPIONS Sir Robert Peel pocketed an emphatic 9-0 victory over The Lion on Monday as players took to the tables for the start of the new season in the Chalk Farm Pool League.

Peel’s ‘B’ team were also victorious after seasoned campaigner Tom Boylan (pictured) held his nerve to pot a decisive black and wrap up a 5-4 win over The Golden Lion.

Newly-promoted hopefuls Green Man looked more than ready for the top flight as they beat Prince of Wales Dynamos 5-4, while the King’s Cross Hawks chalked up a 7-2 victory over Slattery’s Squatters, known as The Sovereign last term.

In Division Two, newcomers Cousins Elite, who are based on Seven Sisters Road in Holloway, look like a worthy addition to the league following their impressive 8-1 win over Slattery’s.

The King’s Cross Invaders, formerly the Gloucester ‘B’ team, also got off to a bright start after emerging 5-4 winners against Boston Young Guns.
