Pavement work in Tanza Road is an utter waste of money
Thursday, 30th March 2017
• THE council last week desecrated the pavements in Tanza Road and are continuing to do so.
All the original York stone paving is being uplifted and now being replaced with over one-third of ugly black tarmac.
Why, if there was any problem with some of the pavement not being even, could the paving stones have not been reset to make a flat pathway instead of digging up the pavements on both sides of the entire road and leaving us for ever with this black ugly replacement?
No expense has been spared to do this. Parking has been suspended for over a week, the noise has been deafening and the drilling extended to our private boundary walls.
Where is the York stone that has been removed? Not all of it was too damaged to use again.
It would have been more useful to use the tarmac and fill the potholes in the borough rather than wasting it and making an absolute eyesore of Tanza Road.
This utter waste of money comes in the same week that we have had notification of a 4.99 per cent rise in council tax.
