Fortune Green Road rubbish

‘The unsightly state of Fortune Green Road’

• I HAVE previously written about the unsightly state of Fortune Green Road, caused by residents placing their bags of household waste, at night, out on the pavement, only for them to be torn open by rats and foxes, (If an area is messy crime goes up, doesn’t it? June 28).

I have also written about the impunity with which a particular business, on the road, disposes of its unwanted furniture by simply leaving it on the pavement, (Save us from this pavement rubbish, October 8).

Unfortunately I am forced write again, provoked by the inability of Camden Council to deal with these persistent problems, which blight our neighbourhood, in spite of the claims of the cabinet member responsible for waste collection, Cllr Adam Harrison.

It’s all very well tweaking the Veolia contract, here and there, but unless the selfish minority, who put out their waste to be strewn by foxes and who dump their furniture, are challenged, it will all be for nought.

It is time councillors, as leaders of the community, earn their pay, by using their privileged position, to encourage a change in behaviour, for general good.
