TWO sports clubs have proved that sharing really is caring after announcing a new partnership at The Green in Parliament Hills Fields.

Parliament Hills Bowls Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year by joining forces with Hampstead Heath Croquet Club.

The move comes after City of London Corporation, who spend £30,000 annually on The Green’s running costs, wanted to get more use out of the lawn to justify its upkeep.

President of the bowls club, Derek Mennell, said: “This new venture brings together two sports not usually highlighted in the mainstream and demonstrates the huge enthusiasm for sport in both clubs. We are eternally grateful to Simon Lee, superintendent of Hampstead Heath, and his City of London colleagues for making this venture possible.”

Ian Harrison, co-founder of the croquet club, (pictured left with Mr Mennell) added:
“The generous hospitality of the bowls club will bring new life to croquet in Hampstead.”

• Expert coaching at all levels is now available in both bowls and croquet. For further details contact Paul Mennell for bowls information on 07910 654469 or Rick Weinstein for croquet details on 07943 658242.
