PARALYMPIAN Tim Prendergast joined a 250-strong crowd for a spectacular sporting showcase at the Talacre Community Sports Centre in Kentish Town.

The New Zealand middle-distance runner is no stranger to gala sporting events having won a gold medal in the Athens 2004 Olympics and two silver medals in the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

So, he was the perfect guest of honour to inspire disabled people and their families at the annual Active for All: Give it a Go! Day on Saturday.

Visitors enjoyed the chance to take part in a variety of activities including adapted cycling, archery, trampolining, pop lacrosse, gymnastics, drumming and art workshops.

Organised by Ben Dorsett and Jessica Neece from the Camden Sport and Physical Activity Service, the sports showpiece was a tremendous team effort with GLL, Central YMCA, Quest 88 and Hampstead Bowmen all pitching in to show their support.
