SINGER songwriter Paloma Faith has raised thousands selling her show-stopping outfits to raise funds for Oxfam’s humanitarian work in Gaza and Lebanon.

Known for her quirky sense of style, Ms Faith delighted fans by offering them the chance to buy some of her stage looks at a sale at the Gipsy Queen pub in Gospel Oak last Wednesday.

Ms Faith, who has been an ambassador for Oxfam since 2013, sold a range of her clothes from the matching blue Shining Twins dress she wore with Alan Carr to Jonathan Ross’s Halloween party, silk pyjamas from Agent Provocateur and a Dolce and Gabbana denim jacket donated by rapper Eve.

All items up for sale were sold from £20 to £150 with Ms Faith even offering selfies for cash in aid of the appeal.

All the money raised on the evening will go to support Oxfam’s urgent appeal in Gaza and Lebanon providing emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and water repairs.

Ms Faith said: “The situation in Gaza is beyond horrifying. People are living in fear every day, without enough food or water and under constant bombardment, while in Lebanon shelters are overwhelmed with over a million people fleeing the escalation in violence.

“I am so grateful for everyone who came along last night to my pop-up shop to help us raise vital funds where they are needed so desperately.”

Speaking to the New Journal, Ms Faith said she had hung out at the Gipsy Queen before, but this time for a different purpose.

“It’s important for me to be here today because I’m a mother and I just see those poor children suffering and what is going on is awful,” she said

“I just feel like they could be my kids and it’s deeply affecting me because the majority of people this conflict is affecting are mothers and kids.

“And just the level of need and the fact that our world leaders haven’t spoken out, now it’s down to the people to speak.”

Two customers at the sale, Beth and Mike Whittingham said they had made the trip to the Gipsy Queen for the charity clothes sale all the way from Brighton.

Mr Whittingham however, said he was no stranger to the area with his grandparents once living in the Gospel Oak area and being frequent visitors at the pub.

Ms Whittingham said: “We came today because we saw it online and thought we had to come to London. I support Palestine and support for Gaza and of course, love Paloma Faith.

“My husband’s family were from around here and his nan especially used to come to the pub. It does feel special that Paloma is here and it’s nice to have a day out.”

Mr Whittingham added: “I think it’s a great thing what Paloma is doing, raising awareness for the support of Gaza.

“More awareness needs to be raised and what a great way to do it selling all these fantastic clothes.”

Magnus Corfixen, Oxfam humanitarian lead, said: “We are immensely grateful to Paloma, and everyone who supported her amazing pop-up shop last night, to help raise urgently needed funds to help people in Gaza and Lebanon whose lives has been devastated by conflict.

“Please continue to donate what you can to help us save lives now, and to help us scale up our humanitarian response when it is safe to do so.”
