CALL it commentator’s curse, but one week after saying that the Sir Robert Peel’s “Invincibles” look just that in the Chalk Farm Pool League, they’ve been toppled.
King’s Cross Hurricanes caused the major shock on Monday night when, led by captain Alp Sezer, they beat the Peel 5-4 to blow the title race wide open.
Peel still boast a 10-point lead in Division One, but now that winning aura has gone, the baying pack are sure to be fired by the scent of blood in the title chase. There were also wins for the Peckwater, Boston Arms, the Gloucester Globetrotters and the King’s Cross Hawks.
