Delays at West Hampstead Overground station

• THE building works at West Hampstead Overground station lumber on. Scheduled for completion in autumn 2018 they are now nearly nine months overdue.

A main reason given for the delay was that a large slab of concrete had to be included unexpectedly. This sounds a lame excuse and something that the architects/engineers/surveyors should have foreseen.

There used to be a notice at the site stating the works were being undertaken by “caring contractors” but this seems to have disappeared as the works have dragged on.

Let’s hope that there is a hefty penalty charge for late completion, and that the “caring contractors” are still caring enough to pay it.
