MORE than 1,400 primary school children flocked to a sunny Parliament Hill Fields on Friday to take part in one of the biggest race days of their lives.

Boys and girls from 26 schools lined up for the Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA) Cross-Country Championships, making it one of the biggest tournaments in their history.

The big winners were New End Primary School in Hampstead. They were closely followed by Brookfield School in Highgate who took the runners-up spot. Children from Holy Trinity and Saint Silas in Chalk Farm were also celebrating after finishing third.

In a tremendous team effort, the CSSA organise the event in partnership with Camden Sport and Physical Activity Service, the Highgate Harriers and the Corporation of London.
