• IN the report by Richard Osley (Uncollected: £1m football transfer fee, August 20) you follow up your papers’ excellent investigation about money that looks as though it’s owed to Camden Council – in other words the people of Camden – this time by Harrow Council.

You finish with a quote from Camden’s finance lead councillor Richard Olszewski suggesting Camden doesn’t know whether its definitely owed the £1million.

I found his comments surprising and mystifying given his background and experience. He is a director of Altitude Consultancy that works with corporate clients in seeking to maximise their influence with local and central government.

Surely the expertise gained in that role should have provided the councillor with the knowledge and skills to make a more definitive statement when questioned about the council’s custodianship of its economic interests in land and property deals.
