A SUPER squad of sprightly athletes “did their borough proud” on Sunday when they took to the streets of London to compete in the mini-marathon.

Camden’s contingent of 42 runners all completed the scenic three-mile course, stretching from Old Billingsgate, past Buckingham Palace and up the Mall.

The girls’ Under-17s team were Camden’s most successful on the day finishing third out of 33 London boroughs. So there was no surprise it was in this age group that Camden also recorded their best individual result with Sophia Parvizi-Wayne finishing third with a time of 17 minutes 28 seconds.

Team manager Ben Dorsett, who trains the squad with Highgate Harriers development coach Graham Norris, said: “This was a great event and all of the Camden athletes did the borough proud.

“It’s going to be a busy summer for them with the Camden Schools cross-country and athletics championships coming up.”
