Discrimination must be condemned in all its forms

Thursday, 21st March 2019

• AS community organisations in Camden that support victims of hate crime, our hearts go out to the victims, survivors and their families of the terrorist attacks against mosques in New Zealand.

We utterly condemn the hostility and prejudice that leads to such extreme acts of violence. Discrimination must be condemned in all its forms.

It is with great sadness that we note that these attacks took place in a climate of growing levels of Islamophobia and other forms of hate crime.

As organisations that witness the impact of hate incidents and crimes on a daily basis, we understand the deep sadness and fear that our Muslim communities are experiencing at this distressing time.

We all have a responsibility to tackle prejudice and discrimination. We therefore call on, the media, our politicians and members of the public to ensure that their words and deeds never legitimise hatred against Muslim or any other communities.

We must work together to build cohesion and respect. In Camden, we stand together.
