• I AM writing to express my concern regarding the ongoing issue of inadequate school lunches provided to children in our schools.

This matter, which affects the wellbeing and daily performance of our children, has been raised on numerous occasions by several parents.

Yet it remains unresolved.

The concerns are twofold.

First, the portion sizes served to the children are insufficient, leaving many hungry and unable to concentrate for the remainder of the school day.

Second, there have been troubling reports of children being denied additional food, even when surplus remains.

This not only undermines their right to adequate nutrition but also raises questions about food waste and the prioritisation of resources.

As parents we trust that schools will provide our children with nutritious and adequate meals to support their learning and development.

However, the current situation falls far short of these expectations.

Despite multiple attempts to raise this issue with the school no meaningful action has been taken, leaving many families feeling ignored.

We urge the school administration and the local education authority to address this matter as a priority.

Measures must be taken to ensure that every child receives a sufficient portion of food and that no child is ever refused additional food when it is available.

Furthermore, transparency around school meal policies and practices would go a long way in restoring parents’ confidence.

This is an issue that affects the entire community, and we hope that by bringing it to public attention through the CNJ meaningful change can be achieved.
