THE goal of bringing young footballers from across Camden and Islington together proved a big hit as the rapidly-growing One Youth Cup returned for a fourth year.

Teams of players aged seven to 14 years old descended on Chalk Farm to compete in the five-a-side competition, which is organised by One Housing Group in partnership with hosts Haverstock School.

Split into four different age categories, youngsters from Pro Touch Soccer Academy had plenty of reason to cheer as they powered their way to victory in both the under-8s and under-10s competitions.

Islington’s Chapel Boys were crowned under-12s cup kings after denying Pro Touch a hat-trick of wins by beating them 4-1 in the final. Somers Town Future wrapped up a successful afternoon by beating Chapel 4-2 to land the under-14s prize.

There were also special accolades handed out to Somers Town Future’s Wamiq Matin, Chapel’s Max Tyson and Pro Touch duo Josh Gruby and Diogo Casimiro, who were all named Players-of-the-Tournament after helping lead their teams to victory.

One Housing Group director Catherine Kyne said: “I would like to congratulate all the winners and thank everyone who took part in this exciting tournament.

“Our Youth Development Team works hard to deliver programmes that aim to make a positive difference to young people’s lives.”
