THE next generation of sports stars were given all the inspiration they needed on Thursday when they were joined by a medal-winning Olympian at the Talacre Community Sports Centre in Kentish Town.

Hannah Macleod was one of the stars of London 2012 after capturing a bronze medal with the women’s field hockey team.

Joining children from 10 primary schools from across Camden, Hannah shared her inspirations and experiences of taking up hockey as a child and competing in the Olympics.

Motivated by her pep talk, the unbeaten team of boys and girls from Primrose Hill School put in a super showing to win the Camden Quick Sticks Primary Hockey Tournament, which was run by the Camden Sport and Physical Activity team with help from volunteer NVQ students.

Primrose Hill will now represent the borough at the London School Games in March.

The sporting week had got under way on Tuesday when youngsters dodged the downpours to conclude five weeks of action in the Camden School Sport Association’s Netball League.

The play-offs saw St Aloysius Junior School topple competition from 12 other schools to be crowned winners.

They will also now go on to represent Camden in the finals of London School Games.

The netball league was run in partnership with Camden Sport and Physical Activity team with the help of volunteer sports leaders from La Sainte Union Secondary School.
