CLERKENWELL Old Boys booked their place in the semi-finals of the Camden Sunday League Senior Cup at the weekend with a hard-fought victory over Cobden Athletic at Hackney Marshes.

The Islington-based side were 1-0 up at half time after Steve Killingback took full advantage of a defensive mix-up to fire in from an acute angle. Cobden equalised shortly after the restart, but Clerkenwell weren’t to be denied as Cashie Chandler set up Gavin Auty for a tap-in to seal a 2-1 victory.

In Division One, Crouch End Rangers missed the chance to close the gap on league leaders Badu after throwing away a two-goal lead against the Hurricanes. Rangers raced into an early lead courtesy of a neat finish from Jon Taylor, before Simon Collings doubled their advantage minutes later. But the Hurricanes stormed back into the game to earn a 2-2 draw and salvage a point.

Badu are two points clear at the top of the table following their 2-2 draw against Enate on Sunday. Second placed Auld Shillelagh have two games in hand over their title rivals, while third-placed Rangers have three games in hand and are just four points off the pace.
