CLERKENWELL Old Boys (above) lit up the Camden Sunday League yet again at the weekend when they hit double figures in their President's Cup showdown against St Peter’s.
The match was effectively over within 14 minutes as the free-scoring side raced into a 4-0 lead.
Man-of-the-match was surely hotshot Daniel Attard who scored five, eclipsing team-mate Jamie Salvoni who hit a hat-trick.
Frankie Chandler chipped in with two goals, while there was even time for Billy Keady to score his first goal of the season to wrap up a resounding 11-0 victory.
Shooters blast their way into the semis
AFC Shooters became the first side to book their place in the semi-finals of the Camden Sunday League Challenge Cup at the weekend when they beat rivals GYRO at Hackney Marshes, writes Steve Barnett.
Shooters took the lead after just 10 minutes when JJ Monserat expertly pulled Matt Bailey’s cross out of the sky before slicing his shot past the keeper.
Goalkeeper-turned-goalscorer Steve Comber wrapped up a 2-0 win on 35 minutes with a first-time finish after racing on to Stephen Parker’s perfect through-ball.
“We’ve played in two semi-finals before without making the final so we’re hoping that being first in the hat this time around will give us the edge we need to go all the way,” said captain Parker after the game.
Coalition Crusaders will be hoping they can join Shooters in the semi-finals by beating AFC Brasenose in their quarter-final tie this Sunday.
The cup-holders will go into the game in confident mood after beating Enate 6-0 at the weekend to take top spot in the division one table.
Leading scorer Mustafa Baskal hit a hat-trick, while Ashley Coleman, Masih Faqiri and Alan Mehmet were also all on target.
