THERE was no doubting the game of the weekend in the Camden Sunday League as Clerkenwell Old Boys staged a remarkable second-half comeback to draw 6-6 against Highbury Town.
Town were seemingly heading towards their fourth win in four games after a hat-trick from Jamie Davies, two goals from man-of-the-match Ash Frazer and a neat finish from Alex Gill gave them a 6-2 lead.
But in a frantic finale, 16-year-old Frankie Chandler scored twice, while Danny Byrne netted his second of the game which – adding to an earlier goal from Harvey Ferguson – brought Clerkenwell within touching distance of earning an unlikely point.
In injury time the unthinkable happened as Ben Moet scored the equaliser, albeit with a little help from Highbury defender Ed Ackerman, to spark wild scenes of celebration.
In the first division Coalition Crusaders built on their previous victory over champions Cobden Athletic by beating Tufnell Park Athletic.
Mustafa Baskal opened the scoring when he headed home Charlie Ryan’s cross, before hotshot Mark Sarfo wrapped up a 2-0 win from close range.
Cobden, meanwhile, bounced back from last weekend’s defeat against the Crusaders by scoring six against Battersea.
Paul Reid and Steven Bruce both scored twice, while Winston Fowler and Luke Morgan also found the back of the net in a 6-2 victory.
