A KILBURN primary school has received another ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating. St Eugene de Mazenod Roman Catholic primary school was rated “outstanding” following an inspection by the education regulator in October.
Head of school Rebecca Smith said: “I am delighted with our school’s recent grading as outstanding. The outcome of the inspection is a testament to the brilliant children, dedicated staff and super parents at St Eugene’s.
“We were particularly pleased that Ofsted recognised that the children ‘work hard and achieve exceptionally well’. They recognised that pupils at St Eugene’s ‘thoroughly enjoy attending this school’ and that ‘their behaviour is excellent’.
“We will continue to strive to do the very best for the children of our school. ”
The report also praised teachers’ promotion of reading and the school’s special educational needs and disabilities provision (SEND)
. Ofsted said: “Pupils, including those with SEND respond very positively to the high expectations of their learning and behaviour.”
St Eugene’s was also deemed “outstanding” in 2010, meaning it was previously exempt from routine inspections.
These exemptions were lifted for all schools in 2020, and those that hadn’t been inspected in the past 10 years had a deadline of January 2024.
Kilburn councillor Eddie Hanson said: “It is an amazing achievement not just for the school but also a celebration of a remarkable asset in the community of Kilburn, delivering an outstanding service. Well done everyone involved, especially the pupils and dedicated staff team of St Eugene.”
