The O2 Centre site on Finchley Road
• DID Sharon Hardwick (Tory hypocrisy is revealed in this leaflet, February 3) attend any of the consultation meetings with Landsec related to its proposed O2 Centre development?
Has she talked to Landsec or the relevant authorities at Camden Council?
I have attended a Zoom consultation and completed several Landsec and Camden surveys regarding these plans.
To begin with Landsec is not offering 50 per cent affordable housing – more like 35 per cent – and no social housing.
“Affordable” is not affordable for key workers or anyone on lower incomes, as it is defined as being up to 80 per cent of market value, which in this area is way beyond the price / rent the average worker can pay.
In addition the scheme may be Landsec’s, but Camden is taking a huge part in it.
According to Landsec the council has insisted that there be no parking provision apart from a few disabled spaces.
This means that it is unlikely there will be a full-size supermarket, because those doing a big shop, those with pushchairs or baby buggies, and those who find it difficult to walk but are not classified as disabled, will not be able to use it.
Landsec claims it is working with Camden to create plans that will be approved.
I have not seen anything from Camden Council that contradicts this statement or that indicates Camden will throw out the plans.
