Zebra crossing in Prince of Wales Road

• WHY has Camden got it in for those of us who live near Prince of Wales Road?

The latest is finding that the zebra crossing near the bridge has disappeared, meaning there is nowhere between Malden and Grafton roads where pedestrians have rights.

The road was resurfaced which meant removing the cycle lane posts. They were promptly returned when resurfacing finished.

Some of the paintwork on the road was replaced and the Belisha beacons continue to flash – but no zebra crossing to protect us.

Earlier it was found that the bus seats at one of the bus stands is in the middle of a segregated cycle lane. Cycles using it potentially hit anyone sitting there. Camden hasn’t even fastened a plastic barrier against the seats, something that would take five minutes.

Then we have the new cycle lane, built without notice or consultation using Covid-19 as an excuse; and before that the removal of all but two islands between Haverstock Hill and Grafton Road – not mentioned in the consultation document.

Perhaps it’s all designed to make us hate cyclists – because, if so, it’s having that effect. Which is a shame.
