2021 Sheephaven Bay Shaun Wallace

Shaun Wallace from The Chase will be at the quiz

QUIZZERS, assemble!

While the Camden New Journal may have been victorious in a fund-raising football match last week, now we go inside and you can take on our team – and a host of others – at the borough’s best-loved quiz night.

Landlord Pat Logue will once again be asking the questions at The Sheephaven Bay in Camden Town on Monday evening (December 12) for an event set up to raise money for our Christmas hamper appeal.

He will be joined by special guest Shaun Wallace, one of the expert stars of ITV’s popular game show The Chase. Everybody is welcome for what is always a warm and welcoming quiz, and it will not break the bank to take part.

Over the years The Sheephaven Bay has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the hamper appeal and this money goes directly to sending surprise packages to those who might otherwise be dreading this time of year.

The hampers go to pensioners at risk of being isolated and alone while everybody else is partying and to those who have faced hardship in 2022.

DONATE HERE

As we always say, a hamper can’t make everybody’s problems disappear, but they show that Camden is a community which cares – a place where, despite what people might tell you, neighbours look out for each other.Bringing people together has always been a key function of a local newspaper like the New Journal.

We would like to thank everybody who has donated so far, but with the countdown to Christmas now really on, it’s time for the final push.

If you can help, there are various ways to donate: There are yellow Paypal buttons on this page which is one of the easiest ways to contribute. Alternatively, you can call us on 020 7419 9000 and pay by card over the phone.

You can also email us at hampers@camdennewjournal.co.uk with any nominations for people who you think the hamper sleigh should stop at when we do our rounds.

And of course, please do join us on Monday at the Sheephaven Bay for the quiz and see how many teams can beat the CNJ. We didn’t place very highly last year and are determined to improve. In such tough times, your help will go some way to making Christmas special for everyone. See you there!
