PLAYER-MANAGER Kelly Smith couldn’t hide her delight after bringing herself off the bench (pictured) on Sunday to help guide the Gunners into the final of the Continental Cup.
England international Smith, 35, changed the game as she created the opening goal for Caroline Weir before scoring the second from the penalty spot to earn Arsenal Ladies a 2-0 victory over Notts County after extra-time at Meadow Park.
After taking charge of her last game before handing over to new manager Pedro Martinez Losa, Smith said “It’s really pleasing. Arsenal Football Club is all about getting to finals and winning trophies, so we’ve put ourselves in a fantastic position in our second cup competition this year.
“It’s pleasing because it’s been a tough season. We’ve managed to get to the final so everybody’s thrilled to be there.”
