• WHAT has happened to your correspondent R Walford? Her usually sensible views have livened your letters pages over past years. But now she seems to have lost her mojo, (The climate debate is over, June 20).

She berates the CNJ for publishing a letter from a “climate change denier”, (End the hysteria on climate change, June 13). While I don’t subscribe to much of what the original letter writer says, I agree wholeheartedly with his comment: “Science is not an area of religious fanaticism and dogma: debate and exchange leads some ideas to change and be revised.”

R Walford’s exhortation to ban letters from those with whom she doesn’t agree is fatuous. I applaud your readiness to host debate on your pages and hope she recovers her old rational, considered, form soon and contributes to it.
