Never allow those with privilege to be the censors

• IT goes without saying that supremo rap artist Wiley outburst of anti-semitic bile was repugnant, (Race hate Twitter walkout, July 30).
And such raw spew is less than what’s required in this surreal and hate-filled global climate.
The indignation of all groups, minorities and cultures need to be expressed so we can all become enlightened and educated about the injustices with all the ingrained learned prejudices, but without stirring up the inflammatory faeces that divides us and keeps us all at loggerheads with one and other.
After all nobody is the paragon of virtue, and this includes damaged world leaders and actor Tracy-Ann Oberman with her Cis, heterosexual normative, white privilege and correct social currency, which would instantly open doors for her and not least in this showbiz industry which is much more of a trial and tribulation for those of us who are authentically a non-white archetype that didn’t arrive on this spinning rock in space with such ready bargaining tools as natal females and people like Tracy, but who possess just as much discernible talent, and perhaps even more, than most of the instantly chosen ones in this industry that we call show.
As we realise that in spite of all our hard work we may still never leverage the same resources and opportunities to express our talents that our usual run-of-the-mill counterparts do because the system is actually rigged in favour of those perceived to be of the correct class.
Oberman will never ever experience the level of ingrained prejudice, oppression and systematic abuse micro and overt, that somebody of my own autonomy or Wiley’s have had to endure and still do. And I’m quite positive that her empirical evidence is far cushier than my own or Wiley’s. (Wealth, hard-earned in his case, can only cushion the human condition to a degree).
I am not an apologist or a victim of self-pity and facts are bereft of feelings. And in this dark age we must all speak our truth even if it means standing alone, as the words we speak creates our experiences and the house we live within and shapes our lives.
So we all had better be more vigilant about the way we express our grievances.
Anyway I do not agree with the way Wiley expressed his indignation for those at the top of the pyramid, because it made me fear for myself, my Jewish family members and associates who suffer enough because of their pro-Palestine support.
But at the end of the day we must never halt artistic licence or freedom of speech nor allow those with the privilege to set the criteria or to be the censors.
Now please get your knee off my neck.
