TEACHERS were “overwhelmed” when nearly 200 students turned up to audition for a role in a supercallifragilisticexpialidocious school production.
Pupils at Parliament Hill School will be staging Mary Poppins early next month. Drama teacher Laura Acton said: “We were delighted, if a little overwhelmed, that so many students turned up. But it is brilliant and I was so happy so many wanted to be a part of the play.”
The show has additional characters, including Winifred Banks, a suffragette, who is sometimes omitted from school productions. “Our students have researched the role of suffragettes. We are incorporating these characters into the performance to provide some further context about the Edwardian era,” said Ms Acton.
Tickets are available for families at £3 for students and £5 for adults for performances on December 3-5.
