YOUNG swimmers from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club made a splash in Basildon’s new 50m Olympic sized pool as they steered the club to third place in the Division One final.

Brendan Comyn, a pupil at North Bridge House Senior School in Camden, was a hit in the boys 13-and-under 100m butterfly.

The 13-year-old swam a strong second 50m before nailing a brilliant finish after turning third at the halfway turn to touch home first in 1.07.76.
Kelly Hookway was a clear winner in the same event in the girls 15-and-under category and Hok Iao Wong continued to impress with victory in the boys 13-and-under 100m breaststroke, followed by second place in 100m backstroke.

Rosie Hughes and Leo Jaggs triumphed in their respective Open events of 100m backstroke and freestyle.

Other notable swims came from Dempster Fawden, who was second in the boys 10-11 50m backstroke and third in 50m breaststroke, while 18-year-old Bogac Ayhan, who has qualified for Olympic trials, was third in the men’s 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

Olivia Willis and Isobel Moffat were third in 15-and-under 100m back and 13-and-under 100m butterfly.

Camden’s strongest relay result was a double second achieved by the girls 15-and-under medley and freestyle teams.

The boys 13-and-under freestyle relay team were a notable third with Zachary Streat, Dania Gnevko, Murray Boyle and Hok Iao Wong making up the fast foursome.
