DRAMA unfolded in the Chalk Farm Pool League on Monday as the game between Sir Robert Peel ‘B’ team and the Gloucester Globetrotters was
abandoned following a mystery injury to a player.
Globetrotters’ Dave Smith collapsed during his match and, after hitting his head, required hospital treatment and multiple stitches.
Dave said he was unsure what happened, adding: “I don’t know what all the fuss was about – the match should have continued.”
The result of the night in Division One saw league leaders Sir Robert Peel earn a perfect 9-0 victory over the Mother Red Cap.
In Division Two, Reilly’s landlady Tina Chambers (pictured) was so fed up with the team’s lacklustre performances and no-shows that she decided to take charge of the side herself.
The new captain couldn’t stop Reilly’s losing 5-4 against title contenders The Green Man, but the fighting spirit seen in the narrow defeat was certainly deemed a step in the right direction.
