My guess is that residents just don’t like change

• I AM intrigued by the arguments of those who oppose the proposed the Camden to King’s Cross garden highline.

Their oppositions range from its suggested entrance, intrusiveness to private properties, its commercial speculation, and – rather fancifully – that it might need to be reused as a (railway) route of commerce.

I imagine all these arguments could be levelled at the much-loved Camden to King’s Cross canal and its crowded towpaths.

It was certainly speculative, was definitely intrusive, probably illegal in places, with entrances placed along residential areas and could in the future – rather fancifully – be used again for commerce. As I understand it, properties along the canal fetch a premium price.

My guess is that residents just don’t like change.
