Keir Starmer

Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer

• THERE are many statements that Sir Keir Starmer has made in the report – I’m still your local MP” – (March 14) that can be challenged; but let’s go with a few shall we?

My experience is that he is very inaccessible. Not many know where his constituency office is but, following a freedom of information request, I found out.

I had to go down that route of enquiry as when I asked the question in an executive meeting of the local Labour Party I was told “you don’t need to know”. However, others in the meeting clearly did know.

I can only assume he has got “a record number of requests” as constituents are deeply unhappy with his stance on many topical issues.

As I said in a previous letter to your newspaper, I have found it very difficult to get him to respond to my request to meet and to get a response to my emails. A mere six weeks to get a “fob-off” reply.

I recall it was only a couple of weeks ago he was approached in a pub in Kentish Town regarding events in Gaza. He didn’t engage and was promptly escorted out of the pub by his wife and Special Branch. I saw this episode all over social media.

I saw him myself to talk to in the street after being kicked out of the Labour Party for a spurious reason, and what did he do?

Scurry away.

I don’t call that being accessible.
