Detectives appealing for witnesses after elderly man found dead in West End Lane 

A MURDER investigation has been launched after an 82 year old man was found dead in West Hampstead.

Detectives said today (Friday) that a 53-year-old man had been arrested at the same property in West End Lane on suspicion of murder.

Officers were called to reports of “welfare concerns” for the elderly man at the around 11.30am the day before.

West End Lane was cordoned-off while paramedics for the London Ambulance Service attended and confirmed the man was dead.

Further details about the cause of death will be established in a post-mortem.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart said: “A team of detectives are working quickly to establish the full picture surrounding this man’s death.

“At this time, officers are treating this as an isolated incident with no risk to the wider community.

“We ask anyone who was around West End Lane at this time, who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to speak to us.”
