IT was a real family affair at the British Four Nations Karate Championships as Patricia Veras and her sons Liam and Luca all grabbed golds in Glasgow.
Liam, 8, and Luca, 6, who go to Sacred Heart Primary School in Islington, are certainly no strangers to the martial arts scene having won countless national and international accolades.
This time around they won two British titles each as they dominated their respective kata competitions – a graceful discipline in which competitors are judged on choreographed patterns of movement.
Not to be outdone mum Patricia beat the best that England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland had to offer as she powered her way to a gold medal in the 35 years plus kumite category – a form of freestyle fighting or grappling.
Despite missing out on the medals club-mates Luan Veras, 10, Emre Oner, 10, and Lulu Brown, 10, who goes to Torriano Primary School in Kentish Town, also all put in strong showings.
