Moshé Machover’s expulsion from the Labour Party is wrong

Professor Moshé Machover
• I WAS very sorry to hear that the Labour Party have finally expelled Professor Moshé Machover.
This lifelong socialist and anti-racist was suspended in December 2020. It took Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party two years seven months to make this decision.
And what was Moshé’s terrible crime that took the Labour Party so long to investigate? It seems that this honourable and decent man had the audacity to oppose the Labour Party witch-hunt.
I despair at the huge number of progressive left-wing members (many of them Jewish like Moshé) who have been expelled from the Labour Party in recent years.
It is bad enough that our party leadership is competing with the Tories in the advocacy of reactionary policies, but to be purging the party of any dissent is frightening.
Moshé’s reasoned and passionate arguments in support of Palestinian rights will continue to be heard in the wider labour and trade union movement.
It is the Labour Party’s loss that he has been expelled.
