More special treatment for the people of Gospel Oak

Gospel Oak

Road closures in Gospel Oak

• YET another shining example of the Camden’s “special treatment” of the long-suffering people of Gospel Oak.

Last Friday Vicar’s Road was closed off for emergency gas main repairs. The council did not bother to tell anyone, not even local councillors.

Given all the other closures in the area, many residents were unable to get into and out of the area for large parts of the day in their cars without incurring a £130 fine.

More to the point, neither could delivery drivers, or vehicles taking people to medical appointments, or people with disabilities needing to use their cars.

For the rest of the weekend the road remained closed, but without any work being undertaken. The organisers of a major fundraising event for young people were not informed either.

Perhaps we should ask our Gospel Oak councillor who campaigns widely for the road closure scheme if he would find out why officers continue to fail to inform local people of matters which have major impacts on their lives.

The photograph (above) is of one of a set of similar signs which direct drivers into closures which would result in a £130 fine.
