More black candidates, yes. But why now?

• FINDING more black candidates is not a new issue. Council leader Georgia Gould does not say why this issue has surfaced suddenly when many problems affecting tenants are put on the back burner so to say.

Your letters pages are full of complaints from Camden residents. I have taken up many issues like poor lift service and obsolete and old CCTV in Mary Green Tower Block.

Sub standard CCTV has helped criminals to get away with impunity. This has also helped recalcitrant tenants to violate COVID 19 rules.

I found out that CCTV in this block was not working when police requested CCTV footage to investigate crimes on our complaints. Yet Camden is charging £1 per week for CCTV without providing service.

Camden did not tell the tenants that CCTV was not working and failed to refund the charges. This has been brought to the knowledge of the leader of the council who advised to write to the Camden’s complaints department. I find this response appalling.

In view of the above I would suggest that while recycling the black candidate issue for whatever reason, Camden should improve services like lift and CCTV at least in Mary Green Tower Block where crimes have been committed with impunity.
