CELEBRITIES and sports stars have shown their support for young swimmer Mia Moon as she gets ready to make a big splash for charity.
The 11-year-old, who goes to UCL Academy in Swiss Cottage, originally hoped to raise £100 for Sport Relief. But thanks to the generosity of friends and family she’s now closing in on a new target of £1,300 – and with just over three weeks to go there’s still plenty of time for that figure to rise again. As if things weren’t going swimmingly enough for Mia a number of famous faces have also donated, including members of hit band Depeche Mode, and golfers Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.
Mia said: “Inspired by London 2012, I’ve signed up to take part in Sport Relief 2014, and will do 60 lengths at the Olympic pool in Stratford. It’s my first time taking on such a big challenge, but it’s a really worthwhile cause and I think kids should try and help charities where they can.”
