HEARTLESS thieves have stolen a mobility scooter from a disabled woman in Queen’s Crescent.

Sarah Hood, 27. who was born with talipes, a condition where her feet are inward making it difficult to walk, said the scooter was stolen from under the stairs inside her block in Weedington Road.

She said: “I want to raise the awareness of disabled people and elderly people. God forbid it happens to anyone else. If anyone has one, just be careful. I can’t believe someone would do this.”

Ms Hood, who is pregnant with her fourth child, added: “My mum and dad scraped the money together and bought it for me to help give me a bit of independence. I feel like now I have had my independence taken away from me.”

The missing scooter that went missing last month is a ‘mega motion endeavour’ – models have sold online from £300 to up to £1000.

Ms Hood said: “I asked all my neighbours – they said they didn’t see anything. I am a disabled single mum. I haven’t been able to go far. I have been attempting to walk but I am in a lot of pain and it is agonising to do.”
