Ministers are not interested in governing properly

Thursday, 7th July 2022

• SPEAKER after speaker at a Holborn & St Pancras Labour Party meeting accused the government of cynical hypocrisy in attacking workers for striking while tying the hands of employer negotiators such as to make strikes inevitable.

At our meeting, attended by nearly 100 members last week, the government was roundly condemned for deliberately trying to divide our communities and provoke animosity towards working people and trade unions acting on their behalf.

Ministers indulge in continuous performative politics and are more interested in creating wedge issues than governing responsibly in the national interest.

Our members support workers asking for fair pay and conditions in face of collapsing living standards and urge all parties to disputes to get round the negotiating table to find solutions.
