THE black and white hoops of the Highgate Harriers surged to glory on Saturday as they were crowned champions of the men’s Metropolitan League.
Despite the absences of star runners Shaun Dixon and David Bruce at the final meet of the season at Moor Park in Northwood, the Gate still managed to rack up the points they needed to take the title.
The club can certainly be proud of the athletes who tackled the testing cross-country run as all 12 of their scorers finished inside the top 42 out of a field of more than 280 runners. It’s the first time the Highgate Harriers have won the Metropolitan League, since it started in 1966.
